Health Learn More about Food Deserts
What are the implications of access to nutritious food for a community?

    Eniola Ajao 10/15/2018 8:57 PM
There are huge implications of access to nutritious food, one of the biggest and most obvious being health. Nutritious food is especially important for children, who are our future.
  • Reflection Question
    Community Support Native Communities
Indigenous speaker and activist Winona LaDuke says that, "most indigenous ceremonies, if you look to their essence, are about the restoration of balance — they are a reaffirmation of our relationship to creation. That is our intent: to restore, and then to retain balance and honor our part in creation." Why is balance important to sustainability?

    Eniola Ajao 10/15/2018 8:56 PM
Balance and sustainability are almost synonyms. When humans talk about sustainability, we try to think of ways to reduce our impact. We've done too much, now we have to scale back. It's a constant balancing act.

Father Thomas Berry says, "...our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." Respond to Berry's assertion.

    Eniola Ajao 10/15/2018 8:53 PM
I guess it's hard to see right now why we should be celebrating, given recent news about the state of the planet.

What environmental factors affect human health in your region, and how do they affect it?

    Eniola Ajao 10/15/2018 8:51 PM
Air pollution is a major factor affecting human health. It affects quality of life by worsening lung function over time.
  • Reflection Question

What do you plan to do with the money you save from making more energy efficient choices?

    Eniola Ajao 10/15/2018 8:49 PM
Put it into savings, buy a nice birthday present for my mom, give it away, etc. I'm trying to acquire less so whatever I do, I won't spend it on myself.
  • Reflection Question
    Simplicity Limit Social Media
Social media is a great way to keep us connected with loved ones, makes us laugh, and helps us to learn new things. It can also take more time than we realize or intend to give. After doing this action for a few days now, how do you feel? What do you notice?

    Eniola Ajao 10/15/2018 5:50 PM
Today was such a productive day for me! Staying off social media made a HUGE difference. I feel great!

  • Reflection Question
Simplicity Go for a Daily Walk
Fresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?

    Eniola Ajao 10/13/2018 7:08 PM
Taking a walk helps me focus, and brings me joy!

  • Eniola Ajao 10/13/2018 8:37 AM
Going to take a reusable water bottle with me everywhere today. Should be interesting in NYC.
