  • Reflection Question
    Nature Spend Time Outside
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

    Nickolas Amen 8/08/2020 5:42 PM
It is nice to have two locations to go to, especially since one is coastal and one is inland. If its foggy at the coast, it more than likely sunny and 10 degrees warmer at the inland location which makes it easier to enjoy the outdoors.

I swear I experienced global warming in  Redlands yesterday with 103 degree weather.
  • Reflection Question
    Simplicity Work-Life Balance
How might practicing work-life balance lead to a more sustainable life for yourself? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?

    Nickolas Amen 6/14/2020 9:24 PM
i am failing, it is my birthday today, however i was mainly attending to school responsibilities.
  • Reflection Question
    Food Meet My Local Farmers
When you know who produces your food, you are connecting personally to your complex regional food system. What are the advantages of knowing who produces your food and where it comes from? How can knowing their food producers enable someone to advocate for a better quality of life for those who produce their food, both near and far?

    Nickolas Amen 6/14/2020 9:23 PM
still kinda hard to plan and do but i'm sure they will be holding the oceanside sunset markets here soon!

  • Reflection Question
Nature Go for a Daily Walk
How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

    Nickolas Amen 6/14/2020 9:22 PM
Its my birthday so i went a on walk down the beach near my new apartment
  • Reflection Question
Food Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
How does food sovereignty address the complex transition from localized food systems to modern global food systems?

    Nickolas Amen 6/14/2020 9:08 PM
Some parts can be boring but some parts straight up shock you
  • Reflection Question
Food Try a New Way to Prep
Canning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA or another trusted source. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?

    Nickolas Amen 6/14/2020 9:08 PM
i haven't quite started the canning process but i'm researching the science and methodology behind it.
  • Reflection Question
    Waste Choose Two-Sided Printing
Choosing two-sided printing can be an easy adjustment on your computer settings. How can you help others make this same switch? Can it be encouraged company wide?

    Nickolas Amen 6/12/2020 3:55 PM
So far seamless integration, office manager thought it was a good idea as well. Waiting on long term effects if any to surface.
  • Reflection Question
    Food Choose Organic Ingredients
Many people say that “you can’t feed the world with just organic food.” How would you respond to that statement?

    Nickolas Amen 6/12/2020 3:54 PM
I find that I feel better in general when I eat more healthy
  • Reflection Question
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

    Nickolas Amen 6/07/2020 4:51 PM
I really like to use Nalgean bottles, i havent gotten on the metal hydro flask trend yet.
