  • Reflection Question
    Transportation Drive Less
How has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

I LOVE train travel! I'll choose a train over a plane any day. The trip is part of the adventure. Flying i just one large stress and rush. I like the slow journey, meeting new people, seeing the landscape change.
  • Reflection Question
    Transportation Walk Instead
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Does this statistic describe your own transportation habits? If so, how might you incorporate more muscle-powered transportation in your daily life?

I often drive less that 3 miles to work (one way) but now to the grocery store, the gym, and anything where time is not a pressure, I walk.
  • Reflection Question
    Nature Practice Gratitude for Earth
Kathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?

I think when we express gratitude, we naturally humble ourselves and see ourselves a part of a larger whole. Americans are far from humble, and typically when we express gratitude it's in thanks for something we have gained. We need to learn to express gratitude for what we have, and what we give, not what we take.
  • Reflection Question
Nature Go for a Daily Walk
How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

I see small changes of season, the effect of trash (unfortunately) and just a whole different perspective walking.
