  • Reflection Question
    Health Exercise Daily
How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera's avatar
    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera 3/15/2021 4:43 PM
By walking outside or going on nature walks and maybe go birdwatching to find different types of birds.
  • Reflection Question
Food Watch a Documentary about Food Sovereignty
How does food sovereignty address the complex transition from localized food systems to modern global food systems?

    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera's avatar
    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera 3/14/2021 6:09 PM
People will have control of where they get their food. They can get their food from local farms and not from places far far away.  It helps the environment because if you go to your local farms to get your food then the ships that ship food won't use gas and cause pollution. And shipping costs more money.
  • Reflection Question
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera's avatar
    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera 3/13/2021 5:34 PM
You can use a cart or carry the items in your hands or you can ask for a paper bag. You can keep reusable bags by your door for when you go out shopping. Or you can use a shopping cart. Also, you can set an alarm for the time you're leaving to go shopping to remind yourself to bring a bag.
  • Reflection Question
    Waste Reduce Single-Use Disposables
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted instead?

    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera's avatar
    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera 3/11/2021 4:58 PM
As a subtstitute for plastic bags, we use reusable bags or ask a person that works at your store to use rubber or paper packaging. We also use alot of ziploc bags and instead we could use reusable containers.
  • Reflection Question
Health Go get a check up
How do you practice self care?

    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera's avatar
    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera 3/11/2021 4:44 PM
I eat alot of fruits and vegetables and I meditate. I also practice self care by being mindful.
  • Reflection Question
    Health Reduce refined sugar
Before you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?

    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera's avatar
    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera 3/11/2021 4:36 PM
I did think I was addicted to sugar before I started this challenge and I still think I am because I like candy and chocolate.
  • Reflection Question
    Health Practice Loving-Kindness Meditation
How can practicing Loving-Kindness Meditation be helpful to the health of the environment?

    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera's avatar
    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera 3/10/2021 4:58 PM
If people practice loving kindness mediation you can know people better. And if you do something not kind you can fix that and it helps the environment because it's a kinder place.

Practicing loving-kindness mediation can make you a happier person and happier people grow better food.
  • Reflection Question
    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera's avatar
    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera 3/09/2021 4:03 PM
Because people in richer countries can buy more meat. Also, it can affect our planet because people kill a lot of animals and when there's no more animals, we won't have that much food anymore and their poo helps the soil to makes plants. We also won't have their milk to drink.

Eating more meat means eating more animals which makes poachers kill more animals and there might not be anymore animals in the world.
  • Reflection Question
    Energy Power Down the Computer
What are other easy things you could do to save energy and reduce your environmental footprint?

    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera's avatar
    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera 3/08/2021 4:29 PM
You can turn lights off when you're not using them. You can stay off your computer to watch cat videos to pass the time. You can read a book or play a board game instead.
  • Reflection Question
Nature Go for a Daily Walk
How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera's avatar
    Amaya & Michael Best-Rivera 3/08/2021 4:25 PM
When you walk you can see more things like nature, your neighbors, and animals that live in your city. Also, you don't use gas which causes pollution.
