Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

This is going to be a hard challenge for me because I really enjoy eating meat, but I'm excited to attempt to going at least one meal a day without meat!

The Eco Challenge is going well! I have really enjoyed changing the challenges each week to try out new things and see what works best for me. The challenges have made me much more aware of how I live and how I can be much more sustainable!

It keeps me more in the present so that little things do not bother me as much. Practicing gratitude is essential for me.

It is going well. The tasks are starting to become habits which is making it easier to remember to fulfill them. Additionally, with them becoming habit I'm also starting to feel better about how I am impacting the environment. It's making me feel better about myself and the planet!
  • Reflection Question
    Water 5-Minute Showers
Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

I have really noticed a difference with making sure I stick to 5 minute showers. At first it was a little tough but now I really like keeping my showers brief. It allows me to feel better about my impact on the environment as well as give me more time for other things in my day!

What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

A sustainable water future would include reusing rain water for backyard watering of lawns and plants. This can change by people advocating for this and by putting a limit on weekly hose water usage in your own home.

It is going really well, I do not tend to use many straws when I have a water or soda so it has not been very difficult for me. I've also added the challenge of taking no more than 5 minute showers. This has been a little harder but I can definitely do it and see that it will make a difference in preserving resources!
