  • Reflection Question
    Food Zero-Waste Cooking
In North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for using every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable (including the skins, tops, stalks, etc.) during your next meal prep?

I think preserving every part of a vegetable that's available is important and can be used in different recipes in your meals. I know that I like to use skins or scraps as decoration for my food when I'm preparing meals or throw them in the pan when cooking vegetables. It can be as easy as using them to make your meals look fancy or cooking it along with other ingredients.
  • Reflection Question
Food Try a New Way to Prep
Canning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA or another trusted source. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?

I think vegetables and fruits in general have been a great food that has not only been beneficial for me but for preservation. Being able to preserve foods that are good for my body and using them in different recipes has been exciting and a great experience.

It allows you to use your own ideas and make something yourself. When you’re able to use your creativity, you learn do see how inexpensive and easy it is to make something rather than rely on others to make it for you

    Charlotte Folau 10/04/2020 5:16 PM
being able to have a common ground such as social inequalities with others that differ from you allows room for open conversations and maybe even connections because of the similar injustices that other share with each other. In the end, they all want one thing: equality...and the desire to push towards that goal is what builds a community.
