Reflection QuestionWater Use Reusable BottlesWhat are some of the needs that water meets or benefits that water provides for you?
Zakarias Hove Johansson 11/27/2022 7:44 PMWhen exercising a lot I need a lot of water in the heat of the Hawaiian sun. Thus water is very important and essential for me not only to live but also to do the amount of exercise that I like -
Reflection QuestionTransportation Car ShareTake a moment to think of places you frequent often (school, work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Zakarias Hove Johansson 11/27/2022 7:41 PMYes, I have scheduled driving with a friend when we have classes on different campuses with too little time in between to be able to take the bus. -
Reflection QuestionFood Visit A Local FarmHow do our current food growing and manufacturing processes affect our future and the future of Earth?
Zakarias Hove Johansson 11/27/2022 7:38 PMOur current food growing and manufacturing processes affect our future and the future of the Earth negatively. We spray our food with lots of bad chemicals and we transport too much of our food over long distances. Both things create food that is bad for our health and the health of the Earth. -
Reflection QuestionNature Do Nature ActivitiesWhat did you observe while spending time outside -- through sight, sound, smell and/or touch?
Zakarias Hove Johansson 11/27/2022 7:31 PMI spent 2 hours hiking today. We hiked through a forrest on big island. It was so quiet and smelled fantastic of wet leaves etc.... -
Reflection QuestionHealth More Fruits and VeggiesHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?
Zakarias Hove Johansson 11/27/2022 7:30 PMA good source of vitamins and minerals, such as folate, vitamin C, and potassium, is fruit and vegetables. They are a great source of dietary fiber, which supports gut health and helps to prevent constipation and other digestive issues. This is good for yourself. Also, growing food for people instead of feed for animals is decreasing the amount of space we need for agriculture. This is good for the planet and for other people. -
Reflection QuestionFood Reduce Animal ProductsWhy do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?
Zakarias Hove Johansson 11/27/2022 7:23 PMIn many places, eating meat is a luxury. People in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places because they have the money to do so. Also, in many rich countries it has become such an embedded part of the culture. It affects our planet negatively as animals produce CO2 and methan. Also, all the feed for the animals result in deforestation many places which both harm the planet and other people (often native people having a close cultural relationships with the forrests and the nature affected). Those people are often harmed by meat production even though they might not have the money to eat the meat themselves.

Reflection QuestionCommunity SIGN UP TO VOTEWhy is voting important to creating a just, sustainable, and thriving world? In what other ways can you actively participate in important decision-making?
Zakarias Hove Johansson 11/10/2022 4:18 PMVoting is important to creating a just, sustainable, and thriving world because one's vote can help chose representatives that want to take care of the society and environment in the same ways that you think is right -
Reflection QuestionSimplicity Work-Life BalanceHow might practicing work-life balance lead to a more sustainable life for yourself? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?
Zakarias Hove Johansson 10/18/2022 5:24 PMFor myself, it will help on my physical health and mental health. More broadly, it will help with sustainability in general as for instance, I will have more time for engaging in non-profit activities that help the environment -
Reflection QuestionNature Enjoy the Sunrise/SunsetFather Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?
Zakarias Hove Johansson 10/18/2022 3:31 PMI feel like it is very true. It feels special to see the sunrise from the top of a mountain as I did today. This is a way of feeling a relationship with nature as well. -
Zakarias Hove Johansson 10/18/2022 3:26 PMI haven't been updating it lately as I have totally forgot with all my midterms going on right now... But I will trytodo it better for sure
