I have planned my dinner for tonight so I will be waste-free. I did this last night too! I am also carrying my waste with me so I don't have to put it in a landfill trash bin and I can compost it later.

I have been making an effort to reuse my plastic utensils and take-out containers. Even if something seems to be advertised as one-use, there is a good chance it could be washed and reused. Today I encouraged my friend that I ate dinner with to do the same.

New to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? Do you know how your compost will be used and the benefits it has on the environment?

I have been making more of an effort to compost this year. Last year, my housing did not have a compost bin, but this year I am proud to say it is becoming a habit of mine and I am helping to educate others to do the same.

Tomorrow, I will be taking my residents to the farmer's market in town. I am excited to teach them about ways to support local farmers and eat sustainably.

Herb garden: I have one cilantro plant growing in my room currently! I am excited to see it grow and I want to add another herb plant soon.

Tomorrow I am looking forward to spending time outside. It is also the 10th anniversary of my local farmer's market tomorrow, so the market I attend weekly will be extra festive.
