  • Reflection Question
    Food Plant an Herb Garden
Consider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?

    Alayna Mickles 2/25/2020 9:05 PM
Growing your own herbs is a great way to cut down on the energy and resources used in large-scale agriculture as well as a wonderful opportunity to begin learning about and practicing sustainable food production.

JKL Residents: Stay tuned for a gardening workshop hopefully happening soon!
  • Reflection Question
Food Try a New Way to Prep
Canning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?

    Alayna Mickles 2/23/2020 11:10 AM
Curing foods in salt is a great way to introduce new flavor profiles into common foods as well as eliminate food waste. The process is essentially waste free as curing salts can be dehydrated, stored, and used again!
