I had no cell or wifi at the cabin I stayed in on vacation. After the momentary panic, I ended up feeling relieved. I was able to really take time to reflect and plan and enjoy the beauty of the area I was in. This helped me realize that constantly checking my phone was distracting me from many good things around me.
  • Reflection Question
Simplicity Go for a Daily Walk
Fresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?

    Mandy Morrell 5/31/2019 1:01 PM
I have been fighting a cold and allergies and walk always helps rejuvenate me and propel me forward in the midst of it. I was even able to take others out and introduce them to the joy of hiking. One lady was still talking about it the next day... although 4 miles suddenly became 5 when she told the story :)
  • Reflection Question
    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

    Mandy Morrell 5/26/2019 10:24 AM
I have noticed how often bags are used where I can't even say no- ie - take out/delivery! I also need to do better to make sure I bring my reuseable bags INTO the store and ENOUGH of them. I have purchased silicone  ziploc bags to reduce my use of disposable bags at home.

Travelling has made me very aware of single use items and the massive amount of waste we have in packaging.
  • Reflection Question
    Simplicity Less Screen Time
What did you notice in implementing this challenge? Was it hard to choose other activities over screen time? How did you decide to spend your time?

    Mandy Morrell 5/15/2019 10:51 PM
Implementing this challenge has been nice- I have been able to start my summer reading/studying schedule. I finished my first book in 2 sittings with no tv/pc on to distract me. Having no screen on has actually been calming and a bit of a relief to not be multi-tasking or constantly checking for messages.

Great reflections! Make sure you are checking in daily on your chosen challenges! Feel free to reach out to other team members to challenge and encourage them!
