Water Say No to Plastic Straws
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

I think the main single-use plastic that I use comes from to-go coffee cups. I need to stop getting coffee from shops for more reasons than one but especially because it is one of the few remaining sources of single-use plastics in my routine. I intentionally only go to shops with biodegradable straws and I always recycle the cup and lid. However, I am certain there is a better way to get coffee that doesn't involve throw-away plastics.

    Energy Adjust the Thermostat
Your utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your ZIP code, region, and/or state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?

It has been really enlightening to have roommates that have different habits than I do and it the past couple of months I have had to learn how to effectively communicate about our electricity use. This is especially a big deal when it comes to turning lights off when they don't need to be on. I always make sure to go around our apartment and shut off lights once everyone is asleep, but I also unplug the kitchen items like the water heater and rice cooker when they are not being used. It is one thing for me to do these things but another to have the conversations that need to be had to prevent further energy loss.
