Reflection QuestionEnergy Learn About Renewable EnergyWhat inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?
Kate Ostaffe 5/03/2020 6:13 PMI want to take care of the planet, because I want to make sure that I can have a future and future generations can too. I am also religious and believe that God calls us to be stewards of the Earth. -
Kate Ostaffe 5/02/2020 10:30 PMLast day of the challenge! This has been a great experience and I'm so glad I participated! I am hoping that I will continue to be more mindful of my everyday habits after this challenge ends. -
Reflection QuestionNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Kate Ostaffe 5/02/2020 10:25 AMIt's nice to actually see and talk to all of my neighbors when I'm walking! I also can enjoy the fresh air, which I can't really do when I am driving.-
Katie McGinnis 5/02/2020 7:09 PMI agree that I have had a lot more interactions with my neighbors, Kate! It seems funny how long it has been since I've had a good conversation with some of them. -
Ariana Porcello 5/02/2020 6:12 PMSo true!! Nature is definitely helping us connect with one another and our Earth especially during this time!!

Kate Ostaffe 4/26/2020 11:17 AMHappy Sunday everyone! I hope you all have a relaxing day. We are officially beating the Staff and Faculty team! Woo hoo! -
Reflection QuestionNature Spend Time OutsideRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Kate Ostaffe 4/25/2020 11:05 AMI don't think that it is necessarily true, but being outdoors can improve your mood. It also is truly special to look out and see everything that God has created. I feel like we are all usually too busy to spend time outdoors, although right now that has changed because we are all in quarantine. Hopefully after this is all over, people still realize that going outside is still beneficial. I definitely don't exercise and go outdoors as much as I should. -
Reflection QuestionNature Enjoy the Sunrise/SunsetFather Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?
Kate Ostaffe 4/25/2020 11:03 AMI don't think that our primary purpose is celebration, but it definitely is a huge part of our daily lives. We are also called to take care of the Earth. -
Kate Ostaffe 4/24/2020 2:38 PMI went on a walk today! I am so out of shape so I'm kind of dead, but it was nice to get the exercise and enjoy this beautiful day! Can't wait for the day where we can all go outside together again and walk around campus. -
Kate Ostaffe 4/24/2020 10:18 AMWe are catching up to the staff and faculty! Let's go class of 2023! -
