This ecochallenge is going really well! There are a lot of things that I already do everyday that I don't even think twice about and it is interesting to see that my impact really can be bigger than I always thought it was. It is also very nice because I'm learning of a lot of new ways that I can help even more than I already am!
  • Reflection Question
    Simplicity Core Values
What are your top 3-5 core values? How did you narrow it down to those as being your core values?

    Hailey Price's avatar
    Hailey Price 10/20/2022 8:06 AM
I could really only come up with 2 core values because I feel they include so much. they are:
    - to be a good person to others (without losing myself in the process)
    - to be aware of my impacts (on the planet, other people, etc...)

  • Reflection Question
    Water Install a Low-Flow Showerhead
How can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?

    Hailey Price's avatar
    Hailey Price 10/20/2022 8:03 AM
I think the best thing to do is just to research possible scenarios and try to best prepare for some or a few of them.
  • Reflection Question
    Waste Find Local Recycling Depots
Our ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors, including market demand for recyclables. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?

    Hailey Price's avatar
    Hailey Price 10/20/2022 8:02 AM
After researching more into recycling, I found that it is hard to find places and that a lot of places that say they recycle don't actually recycle.
  • Reflection Question
    Nature Explore My Area
How might spending more time outdoors enhance your brainpower?

    Hailey Price's avatar
    Hailey Price 10/20/2022 8:00 AM
Spending time outdoors is very relaxing for me and helps me destress which can have really positive impacts on my brainpower.
  • Reflection Question
    Community Connect with a Nonprofit
What inspires you to act toward a more sustainable community?

    Hailey Price's avatar
    Hailey Price 10/20/2022 7:56 AM
My biggest inspiration is the beauty of the planet. The things that normally go overlooked are the things that some people find to be so important to them. It is sad to see beautiful things and remember that we are not taking enough care of where we live
  • Reflection Question
    Community Express My Support
What sustainability issues are most pressing or prominent on your campus? In your hometown? Where you live currently?

    Hailey Price's avatar
    Hailey Price 10/20/2022 7:54 AM
I think one of the biggest issues on my campus is the plastic use. With all the plastic being used, it is not very sustainable, and also there are not many ways to dispose properly of it. A lot of the times, the trash bins fill up fast so people put trash in the recycling bins, rendering them basically useless. There is also not enough trash or recycling cans in my opinion
  • Reflection Question
    Water Fix Leaky Faucets
Fixing leaky faucets is one of the tasks that we can easily put off until later. Good job on completing this action! How will you use the momentum from completing this action to increase your water efficiency in other ways?

    Hailey Price's avatar
    Hailey Price 10/16/2022 9:30 AM
There are a lot of things that I just overlooked and didn't realize could be wasteful or have a long lasting negative impact. This made me want to start researching other problems and solutions so that I can fix my actions and also help inform my friends and family.
  • Reflection Question
    Transportation Walk Instead
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Does this statistic describe your own transportation habits? If so, how might you incorporate more muscle-powered transportation in your daily life?

    Hailey Price's avatar
    Hailey Price 10/14/2022 3:24 PM
I think yes. I don't really travel much while I'm away at school because everything I need is super close so I can walk everywhere. When I go off of campus I carpool with friends and even then, we don't really travel much farther than 3 miles. After college I would love to live somewhere that walking is a viable mode of transportation for me because not only is it better for me and my health, but it is also good for the planet.
  • Reflection Question
    Transportation Drive Less
How has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

    Hailey Price's avatar
    Hailey Price 10/14/2022 3:23 PM
Throughout my life, I took the bus often to get to school and when I got to high school a lot of people complained about having to take the bus, but in my opinion it is easier. It is also better for the planet so that is another plus. Also growing up my parents always carpooled with people and other families. All of these things became habit to me so finding out that they are better for the planet gives even more motivation to continue doing it
