Marguerite's Actions
Waste
Prevent Recycling Contamination
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 30 minutes researching which materials are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community and recycle only those items.
Health
Happiness
I will write down three things every day that I am grateful for, or send one email every day thanking or praising someone.
Simplicity
Meditate
I will meditate or create a moment of silence for 15 minute(s) each day to reflect on things important to me.
Food
Reduce Animal Products
I will enjoy 2 meatless meal(s) and/or 2 vegan meal(s) each day this week.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 2 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Transportation
Use Public Transit
I will use public transit 5 mile(s) each day and avoid sending up to (___) lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Water
Use Reusable Bottles
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 6 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.

Marguerite Saunders 1/30/2023 1:33 PMOne of the new actions I want to adopt this week is preventing recycling contamination. At home, I'm familiar with the kinds of plastic that can be recycled (1-7, except for 6), but at Georgetown, although I've seen infographics on the types of materials that can be recycled on campus, I haven't been able to encounter any more specific guidance on the numbers/types of plastics that can be recycled. Has anyone else looked into this and found more guidance?

Marguerite Saunders 1/30/2023 9:38 AMToday, I practiced the "Happiness" challenge. Though at first glance it doesn't obviously fit with the broader goals of the eco-challenge, it speaks to the role of an important theme we have been discussing in class -- community -- in building a society that is more in touch with creation.

Marguerite Saunders 1/23/2023 7:29 AMThis week I want to try a new action -- practicing mindfulness! One of my professors shared this article with me and I found it a helpful reminder of the importance of making time to think -- both for our own mental well-being and because it helps us become more engaged and thoughtful students.
