    Numerous factors such as traffic and power production from fossil fuels can impact the health of people. These sources can increase the amount of carbon in the atmosphere and other chemicals which can be hazardous to breath, especially in large quantities.

    Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

    Many times, waste water deposited in the water systems can cause harm to them by creating "dead zones" where the conditions can no longer support life. The construction of infrastructure in rivers such as dams can also alter the cycles and patterns of the life that exist in them. I can advocate for proper waste disposal and increased education about water systems and the life they support.

    Almost 3 weeks in, and I can already start to see some of the impacts and effects. I can't wait to see what the impacts are by the end of this month and the challenge.

    For me, it is the amount of carbon dioxide that continues to be produced and released into the atmosphere through the combustion of fossil fuels because there is already so much more carbon in the atmosphere than there should be.

    I can reduce the amount of time the lights are turned on and how much the heat or A/C is running. I also can unplug devices and chargers that are not in use to reduce phantom load as well.

    In the documentary I watched, I learned about how the weather has been affected by the increase of carbon dioxide. It was shocking to see how the increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere had affected the impacts and severity of various weather events and the chain reaction effects throughout the global ecosystem.

    Creativity can be used to find ways to meet one's needs without negatively impacting the health and success of others or themselves. Creativity can allow you to find unique and new ways to meet your goals while also working to meet sustainability goals and improving everyone's quality of life.
