    I wish I could go on more hikes more often. Being outdoors allows you to see life from new perspectives instead of seeing the same parking lot from my window. I get to see the ecosystems of a variety of animals and on occasion the past people that have come through.

    Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
    While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

    Prior to getting my Brita pitcher, I just feared all the different things in tap water. But after buying the reusable pitcher and filter, it has cleared all that fear.

    Water Say No to Plastic Straws
    What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

    I found this challenge to be more difficult than I expected. Many times, servers at restaurants will give you straws before you can even notice, then they will end up in the trash even if you don't use them. Sometimes they will even put them in the drink for you. It definitely made me more mindful of useless waste.

    Happy to have learned the fundamentals of used clothing instead of buying new clothes! I am convinced that shopping at flea markets is a form of recycling!

    I have been walking home from class/work a couple days each week. This has accomplished several of the challenges because I am reducing the carbon footprint of vehicles, while also spending time outside and getting exercise. I've really enjoyed getting an extra mile or so of walking in. It makes me feel much more calm when I get home after having some time to de-stress from my day while walking. Though I often don't have the motivation to spend time meditating or disconnecting from social media, walking forces me to spend some alone time away from a screen.

    What are some of the needs that water meets or benefits that water provides for you?

    Water hydrates me, its basically the only thing that I ever drink. It allows me to wash dishes, clothes, take showers, brush my teeth, etc.

    The next step that i can take is one that i actually challenged myself to, brushing your teeth without the water on! Or not running water the entire time that you are doing the dishes.
