My campus ecochallenge is going well. I feel better adding more vegetables to my diet and reducing my meat consumption. I have also done a good job not using plastic bags.

I have been doing a good job in reducing my consumption of meat, eating more vegetables and eating more at home. I have still been riding my bicycle to and from work. We recently had elections, and I have been encouraging friends to vote for those who advocate for climate change policies.

Waste Learn About & Practice Sustainable Fashion
How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

Buying second-hand clothing reduces waste. Buying from Fair Trade companies supports businesses that are doing their part to reduce waste and to implement fair working conditions.

I think hiking is a great way to spend time with friends, in nature, while exercising. I wish I had more time to hike, but school and work get in the way. My friend and I are also  challenging each other to different Kpop dances, fun and healthy!

Dancing! I love doing Kpop dances, and they are a great way to have fun while exercising almost every muscle in your body!

    Waste Use Reusable Bags
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

I never use a bag when I am only purchasing a few items, and if I go shopping with someone who has a car, I try to never use bags for any larger items.  I do have some cloth bags that I can put in my backpack or in my friend's car to have handy on shopping excursions.

    Health More Fruits and Veggies
How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?

It makes my body feel better. I don't feel as lethargic as I usually do. It also reduces my meat consumption and the use of plastics by not having to use packaging. Eating less meat and using less plastic reduces methane emissions and produces less waste. This is one way that I can help the fight against climate change.

With the options that I selected for the eco-challenge daily walk, I can explore and have personal experiences out in nature while also using it for mental health. The next option I selected was to use reusable bottles, I think that this is important because it reduces waste. Lastly, I choose to research renewable energy sources, recently that is something that my dad has been really into, and making changes in that is something that I would also like to do.

    Food Locally-Sourced Meals
If you were to only eat what is in season locally from now on, what would be the most difficult food item for you to give up? Why?

I live in Alaska, so any food in the winter would be pretty hard to access. Fresh fruits and veggies would be almost impossible to come by, and even meat would be hard to save.

I just started this today through my climate change course, and I am very excited to help save the climate!
