I found an interactive environmental indicator map for Canada that might be useful, but not all the indicators are up to date : https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/environmental-indicators/interactive-maps.html

When the weather allows, I like to use the sun to dry my laundry, inside my house or outside - it saves on energy!

I practice self care with crafts, reading, listening to music, doing a special skin care treatment, taking a bath, painting my nails, going for a walk or hike, hanging out with my cat, watching a favourite movie or TV show...and many other things!

    Nature Explore My Area
How might spending more time outdoors enhance your brainpower?

When I am outside, I try to spend as much time as I can looking at the world though my own eyes, rather than a camera lens. I want to remember how I feel, what I see, what I smell and what I feel in that moment. I know I will remember that more than a picture on my phone that I probably won't look at again.
  • Reflection Question
    Waste Compost Food Waste
New to composting? Be sure to check out the action resource links to learn tips and more about it. As you transition from throwing food away to composting, what do you notice about how much you are tossing? How will you use your compost once it is ready?

I grew up with a compost in the backyard of my childhood home, so it is not a new concept to me. Currently, I live in a place where I cannot have a backyard compost, so I am grateful for the organic waste collection. Composting has significantly reduced my waste  and food waste output. I would love to be able to have a place someday that allows me to compost my own waste and use it!
  • Reflection Question
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

I love using reusable cups, coffee mugs and water bottles while out, at work or even at home - keeps my drinks hotter or colder for longer and saves on washing dishes!
  • Reflection Question
Food Try a New Way to Prep
Canning and pickling food is a great way to have delicious summer fruits and vegetables all year round. Just make sure to follow the canning and pickling guidelines from the USDA or another trusted source. What are some foods that you would like to preserve and enjoy later in the year?

I am planning on drying some rosemary and incorporating it into different meals. I am also looking at making things like rosemary salt or rosemary infused olive oil. I also want to try making some chia jam - just have to decide what fruits to use!
  • Reflection Question
    Food Plant an Herb Garden
Consider the ways you can garden: a plot of land? a patio container? hanging basket? windowsill gardens? What would work best for your living situation and lifestyle?

I planted a few herbs this summer, in planter pots on my back patio. Planter pots are the only kind of garden I can have at the moment. The basil I planted did not do well (it died), but my rosemary is still thriving! I'm hoping to harvest and dry it soon, so I can use it over the winter in cooking an baking!
