Simplicity Go For A Daily Walk Outside
Fresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?

Going for a daily walk allows me to clear my head and focus on just being outdoors in the fresh air and nice weather.  When I come back inside, I always feel more ready to tackle my to-do list after the break.

    Community Support Native Communities
Indigenous speaker and activist Winona LaDuke says that, "most indigenous ceremonies, if you look to their essence, are about the restoration of balance — they are a reaffirmation of our relationship to creation. That is our intent: to restore, and then to retain balance and honor our part in creation." Why is balance important to sustainability?

Balance is important to sustainability because sustainability requires balance. Sustainability isn't about saying "you can't do this, you must do that", it's about fulfilling needs and not taking more or exploiting our resources. If we are to live sustainably, we must live a life with balance.

Good afternoon, team! Today's daily action falls under the "community" category. We challenge you to support native communities by learning about the native populations that lived in your area before colonization, and what you can do to support those that still are present! This is one great resource.

Good morning! Today's action of the day is to research food deserts. I challenge you to look into food deserts in your area as well as how you can advocate for fresh and healthy food!

    Health Eliminate Toxic Plastics
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

Before getting introduced to eco-consciousness about a year ago, I had regularly used single-use items several times a day. I started swapping out my plastic bags for reusable cloths ones, though it seemed to make me feel really uncomfortable going in public with it at first. It took awhile for me to make the change of denying straws, but that has become a normal now. Things that I fairly often use, especially being at home living with my family during quaratine, are plastic bottles (which I'm trying to find ways to use them with my gardening now), plastic silverware and paper plates. Trying to either force ourselves to be more diligent about doing the dishes would help with eliminating the plastic silverware and paper plates, but sometimes we all need a break. So, we've started getting compostable options for these and only having a limited amount in the house as to not get carried away with how many we use.

    Health Exercise Daily
How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

I like to exercise with friends, doing fun workouts together to motivate us and spend time with each other!

    Good morning Class of 2020!
Today, we have an action of the day: we challenge you to do a personal waste audit-that is, collect all unrecyclable, non-compostable trash to raise awareness of how much you send to the landfill in a day!
