Emma Breuer 4/09/2024 1:48 PMI have been doing more than I thought I could with this ecochallenge! I didn't realize that it could be one tiny action that could change something. For this challenge I am walking at least 20 minutes a day, writing three things that I am grateful for everyday or praising someone, and avoiding using plastic bags. Some things I didn't even realize that I am already doing like using a reusable waterbottle, or saving water by turning the water off when I am actively brushing my teeth instead of letting the water run when I am not using it.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicity Work-Life BalanceHow might practicing work-life balance lead to a more sustainable life for yourself? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?
Emma Breuer 4/07/2024 1:38 PMThis has been a challenge for me, especially because I like to get the work done when it is assigned. I need to learn how to slow down and take a deep breath to avoid getting ahead of myself especially while in college. I feel like practicing a work-life balance can lead to a more sustainable life for myself because it would make me think before throwing something away, or make me think before I react because I am overwhelmed. I think when people are overwhelmed they tend to react differently and sometimes the environment pays the consequences, such as burning papers or throwing something on the ground outside and not picking it up. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Emma Breuer 4/07/2024 1:34 PMToday was pretty dreary, but yesterday was the best day to walk outside. I felt like the world was very quiet until I tuned into all the birds, the squirrels scurrying around, and the trees blowing in the breeze. When driving I can't hear any of the sounds or feels that come with being in nature, I am just on the hurry to go somewhere else when I am just driving. It felt like I didn't only not bring my car to college because it is hard to get parking, but because it had to teach me to appreciate my surroundings more!
