Victoria 's actions
Health
Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 60 minute(s) each day.
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 20-minute walk outside each day.
Transportation
Car Share
I will sign up for a car-sharing service or organize car sharing with my neighbors or classmates to cut down on the number of vehicles on the road.
Transportation
Walk Instead
I will walk 1 mile(s) each day instead of driving and avoid sending up to (___) lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Nature
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 30 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside.
Water
5-Minute Showers
I will save up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water each day by taking 5-minute showers.
Water
Say No to Plastic Straws
An estimated 71% of seabirds and 30% of turtles have been found with plastics in their stomachs. When they ingest plastic, marine life has a 50% mortality rate. By asking for no straw when placing a drink order, I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) of out of the ocean each day.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Waste
Choose Two-Sided Printing
I will save up to .21 lbs (.09 kg) of paper per day by switching from one-sided printing to two-sided when I have to print documents.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Walk InsteadHalf of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Does this statistic describe your own transportation habits? If so, how might you incorporate more muscle-powered transportation in your daily life?
Victoria Blanc (901) 4/16/2024 9:26 AMMost of the time this does describe my own transportation habits when I am at home. However, when I am at school I walk to most places. I think to incorporate more walking into my life I will plan out my day more and even encourage others to walk with me so I will be more motivated to walk as opposed to driving. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWater Say No to Plastic StrawsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Victoria Blanc (901) 4/13/2024 5:48 PMI use single-use plastic bags regularly when I go shopping. Instead of using plastic bags, I can purchase reusable bags. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNature Go for a Daily WalkHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Victoria Blanc (901) 4/11/2024 1:44 PMWhen I walk instead of drive I get to appreciate the smaller details of things around me. When I drive, I pass everything quickly and miss the small details like tulips and wind chimes in neighborhoods. While driving you are focusing on what is directly in front of you, but when you walk you get to look at what is around you and notice different details.
