Evie's actions
Waste
Carry my Trash
I will carry all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash with me to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill.
Simplicity
Needs Vs. Wants
I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.
Simplicity
Less Screen Time
I will replace 60 minute(s) of screen time each day with other activities.
Nature
Spend Time Outside
I will replace 20 minute(s) each day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 4 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 4 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Waste
Use Reusable Bags
If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases.
Nature
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.
Simplicity
Limit Social Media
I will limit my social media use to once each day reducing my daily use by 60 minute(s)
Waste
Tour A Waste Management Facility
I will spend at least 60 minute(s) touring (virtually or in person) a local dump/transfer station, material recovery facility, and/or landfill to learn about our local waste and waste recovery streams.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 4 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Nature
Join An Outdoor Project
I will join an outdoor restoration project in my community while observing best practices in my region for not spreading COVID-19.
Nature
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a 15-minute walk outside each day.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

Evie Blomqvist 11/14/2024 4:31 PMBeen doing some thrifting and upcycling this week which is something I really love doing. -
Evie Blomqvist 11/12/2024 4:15 PMI really wish I could walk to more places here in Honolulu. In Europe we have a big walking culture but here, everyone drives everywhere and the cities infrastructure is adapted for the cars. So when I've tried to go for a longer walk or run here, more then half of the time is spent waiting at traffic lights. -
Evie Blomqvist 11/12/2024 4:07 PMI have saved all of my cans and bottles and want to recycle them. In Sweden almost every single grocery store has the ability to recycle, but not here. I have to go on the bus for 30min to the closest recycling place. Not having easy access to recycling places does not promote recycling unfortunately. -
Evie Blomqvist 10/08/2024 8:23 PMThis week my Needs vs Wants was pushed. My headphones partially broke, so I want a new pair but I don't really need a new pair because they still work okay-ish. -
Evie Blomqvist 9/29/2024 1:02 AMWent to a new thrift store today, I prefer to buy my clothes second hand to avoid the huge environmental impact the manufacturing of new clothes have. The store also had 50% off everything so win for the environment and win for my wallet. -
Evie Blomqvist 9/25/2024 10:45 PMFirst week has been going good, out in nature a lot and thinking about my waste habits.
