  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water
What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

    Sabrina Brown 101's avatar
    Sabrina Brown 101 4/08/2025 7:24 AM
A sustainable water future would look like open accessibility to fresh and clean water for people and nature. Changes that need to be made is reducing the amount of pollution, raising awareness, and using water more wisely.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water
Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

    Sabrina Brown 101's avatar
    Sabrina Brown 101 4/08/2025 7:22 AM
    - Deforestation
    - Plastic pollution: use less plastic
    - Oil spills: invest in clean energy
    - Overfishing
    - Land development

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature
Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

    Sabrina Brown 101's avatar
    Sabrina Brown 101 4/08/2025 7:14 AM
A culture that spends most of its time indoors lacks adventure and experience. Spending all of your time indoors leaves you with a less fulfilling life and will eventually lead to loneliness. Scientists have also proven that spending more time indoors causes a decline in mental health and reduces physical activity.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation
Take a moment to think of places you frequent often (school, work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?

    Sabrina Brown 101's avatar
    Sabrina Brown 101 4/03/2025 7:12 AM
I ride with my classmates to and from school. I ride with co-workers to and from work.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
What was it like to actively listen to someone? How did both people and the conversation(s) benefit from active listening?

    Sabrina Brown 101's avatar
    Sabrina Brown 101 4/03/2025 7:03 AM
Actively listening meant that I gave someone else my full attention, I had good body language, I showed that I was engaged and cared about the information that was being presented to me, I provided small affirmations to show that I was not distracted by something else, and I gave direct eye contact. Both sides benefited because arguments were deescalated, both sides were able to understand each other's stances, and both sides grew greater understanding.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
How is equality for trans, femme, and nonbinary people important to a just and sustainable society?

    Sabrina Brown 101's avatar
    Sabrina Brown 101 4/03/2025 6:59 AM
A just and sustainable society is a society that recognizes and provides dignity, rights, and respect to all of its members. No one should feel excluded or less than someone else. No one should feel like they are at a disadvantage because of their identity.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
How do you practice self care?

    Sabrina Brown 101's avatar
    Sabrina Brown 101 4/03/2025 6:57 AM
I practice self-care by washing my face and moisturizing daily. Having a daily face care regimen provides me with a feeling of renewal and relief after a long day. I also engage in my hobbies to practice self care, which includes drawing and painting as a source of relief.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

    Sabrina Brown 101's avatar
    Sabrina Brown 101 4/03/2025 6:50 AM
If I find myself in a situation where I just completed a shopping spree and do not have a bag I often times carry my items to the vehicle or take my items out to the vehicle in a cart. To prevent from taking a disposable bag I can continue to take these actions, but I can also assure that I always have a spare reusable bag in my vehicle.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
Consider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What are you finding works for you to be successful in this action?

    Sabrina Brown 101's avatar
    Sabrina Brown 101 4/03/2025 6:48 AM
I would like to shift my sleep patterns to getting more sleep. I would like to wind down and be in bed by 11:00 and be awake by 8:00. I've found that removing my stressors from the day and breathing has been effective in helping me to get a proper night of rest. Making sure that I am not procrastinating and getting school work done ahead of the deadlines has helped me to get a proper night of rest.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four in the US spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

    Sabrina Brown 101's avatar
    Sabrina Brown 101 4/03/2025 6:44 AM
The amount of food waste in the average four person household does not surprise me because as a server I see a large amount of food waste occurring just in a restaurant setting alone. I would rather use my funds towards paying for other expenses including housing (rent), utilities (electric, gas, etc.), and for a vehicle (car payments, insurance, gas).
