Rachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?

This does ring true to me because my morning runs serve as a type of therapy for me. I think that going on walks/runs without technology is a great way of reconnecting with the natural world, which allows us to reflect on ourselves as a whole. To answer the second question, I think that technology allows people to entertain themselves very easily, so it could be hard for those people to step outside of their comfort zone.

Michael Pollan states that “it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor.” What are your thoughts on this assertion?

I believe that he is saying that buying organic foods is a great way to avoid health issues. Even though organic food may be a little bit more expensive than processed foods, it will prove to be very effective in the long run.

How can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?

I can incorporate personal values, such as hanging out with my friends, by inviting them to go on a run/walk with me in the mornings! Afterward, we can grab a bite to eat or some coffee.
