Jair's actions
Food
Buy From a Farmers Market
I will purchase produce and meat from a local farmers market or food co-op.
Transportation
Walk Instead
I will walk 5 mile(s) each day instead of driving and avoid sending up to (___) lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Waste
Skip the Straw
Plastic bags and small plastic pieces like straws are most likely to get swept into our waterways. I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill and ocean each day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 10 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportation Walk InsteadHalf of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Does this statistic describe your own transportation habits? If so, how might you incorporate more muscle-powered transportation in your daily life?

Adnan Maksoud 12/04/2023 10:24 PMNice. I've also been thinking of utilizing the transit system more. Being in downtown and not having car, it certainly beats using ride-sharing apps. Really a useful and cheap investment worth getting more into.

REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Turn it offHow is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?
Jair Chavez 12/04/2023 4:52 PMi was reading about how it takes 3,000 to 6,000 gallons of water to power one light bulb left on 12 hours a day for a year. Turn out the lights and save both water and energy! and it motivated me to turn off my light -
Jair Chavez 11/12/2023 7:33 PMi always have a target goal each week of how low i can get my plastic waste usage and I'm seeing improvement in how much i use less plastic now and i feel so happy now -

Brady Pierce 11/05/2023 5:49 PMNice work Jair, I feel like every time I'm late to class and have to walk a little faster I'm hit with the same realization

Jair Chavez 10/22/2023 6:23 PMI got the chance to go to the local Beaverton Farmers Market and to be able to buy organic, and it was pretty fun to be able to walk and support the businesses -
Jair Chavez 10/15/2023 9:43 AMmy daily action was to walk more to places that are walkable instead of driving to places. i live like 5 minutes from a trader joes, so it's like a 25-30 min. walk, and I feel good mentally and physically, knowing that i am living more sustainable, but its also good for my physical health-
Dylan Broten 10/15/2023 5:56 PMWalking is great! I love walking, even though I live pretty far from most of what I would like to walk to, I still try to take walks often. Living in walkable areas and utilizing it is very good for mental and physical health! -
Sophie Wille 10/15/2023 10:32 AMHi Jair! That's awesome that you decided to walk more instead of driving! One of the things I like the most about living downtown is how walkable it is, and that there's such easy access to public transit.
