Electricty is created through solar, wind, and fossil fuels. The house I live in currently has solar. This solar energy is enough to power our lights and thats it.

Your utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your ZIP code, region, and/or state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?

Living with housemates in a home in Marina, unfortunatly it gets very cold during the winter time. Although this is the case we refuse to run the heater, it is extreamly expensive to warm our home due to its poor insalation. To reduce our energy usage we use space heaters which use a significant less amout of energy. Not only that we make sure to wear warm clothes and have blankets all over the house to use when we are cold.

Living in Merced Ca the majority of my life, I am very familary with using the sun as a way to warm/cool our home. During the summer time it can get up to 100+ degrees. Yet, it is easy to keep your house cool without running the ac or heater simply by opening and closing your windows at the right time. Its coolest in the morning so its important to get as much air flow into your home. When it starts to warm, its important to close up your house and try to block as much sun from entering your windows. Not only that painting your home a cooler color will reflect the rays of the sun.
