It’s going well overall! I’ve been practicing gratitude for the Earth by spending at least 10 minutes outside each day, which has been really grounding. It’s getting harder now that the weather’s turning colder. I’m not a fan of the cold, so bundling up just to sit outside and reflect isn’t exactly my favorite part. Still, I’m sticking with it because it’s a good reminder to slow down and appreciate the world around me, even when it’s freezing.

    Nature
Kathleen Dean Moore says that a sense of gratitude leads to a sense of moral obligation. Do you agree? How can we cultivate a sense of gratitude as individuals, and as a society?

Gratitude awakens us to the reality that our lives are sustained by countless gifts we did not earn. This awareness naturally leads to a sense of moral obligation to protect, reciprocate, and care for what sustains us. As individuals, we can cultivate gratitude through reflection, storytelling, and mindful attention to the sources of our well-being. As a society, we foster it by embedding appreciation into education, public rituals, and policies that honor interdependence.
