One of my favorite parts about this site is the use of a "Seafood Social Risk Tool" that goes over what countries have a list of countries with risk factors when it comes to the labor behind our seafood. I highly recommend a look into it to be more aware about what kinds of labor conditions are in countries that produce or process seafood. https://www.seafoodwatch.org/our-projects/seafood-social-risk-tool

Producing 1 kg of beef emits as much greenhouse gas as driving 150 miles, meanwhile, 1 kg of veggies or grains leaves a much lighter footprint! This week, I’ll shrink my climate impact by having 1 meatless meals and/or 2 vegan meals each day.
Transportation
Improve a Bus Stop in My Community
I will help improve a bus or shuttle stop on or near my campus by sharing the schedule, picking up litter, adding art, picking up litter, or making other small improvements.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat did you learn about the impact of your seafood choices on ocean health? What challenges, if any, did you encounter when trying to make more sustainable seafood choices?
Mercedez Grace Flores902 11/02/2025 7:43 PMSeafoodwatch.org honestly taught me a lot about ocean health and how our choices can affect it. I learned that a lot of the extra heat emitted by global warming is absorbed by the ocean, abuse in labor surrounding ocean goods is unfortunately common (especially with goods like tuna, shrimp, squid, etc.), and that there are more than a million tons of fish being harvested every year. While I do not have much access to seafood or the means to cook a lot, I'd definitely like to keep in mind how to be more environmentally friendly, where I purchase seafood, and more. The ocean plays a major part of our world, so it is crucial that we try to reduce the negative impact we have on it and try to assist the life within it.

Mercedez Grace Flores902 10/30/2025 4:06 PMI'm in the process of fixing my jean jacket with embroidery. It's a work in progress, especially since I lack an embroidery hoop and denim is a thick material, but it's worth it! I also fixed up my shawl/cloak with some sewing (will post an image or two of it later on).-
Josie de Leeuw 10/31/2025 10:20 AMI love embroidery! I used to do a lot of cross-stitch during my freshman year, and I haven't really had the time to start new projects recently but I am looking forward to finding the time.

Mercedez Grace Flores902 10/24/2025 1:03 PMI tend to forget check ins with my challenges, but when I remember, it honestly feels great to know how much I'm accomplishing. Even if some of my chosen actions are small, an attempt is made at bettering things, and I think that's the important part.
