Zach's actions
Energy
Turn Off Lights and Electronics
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Health
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 120 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Transportation
Walk Instead of Driving
I will walk 4 miles each day instead of driving.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 6 disposable plastic bottles from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Community
Make Sure You are Registered to Vote
I will make sure I'm registered to vote. While I'm at it, I’ll sign up to help others register too!
Food
Follow a Whole Food Diet
Processed foods can be less nutritious for our bodies and take more energy and water to produce, which can create more waste, pollution, and may offer fewer health benefits. I will enjoy 3 meals per day free of processed foods.
Simplicity
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a walk each day to clear my mind, get some fresh air, and support my physical and mental health as a student.

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Zach Glass 10/30/2025 6:56 AMit helps Clear your mind from outside problems and its a time to focus on yourself but also having time to reflect -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhy is voting important to creating a just, sustainable, and thriving world? In what other ways can you actively participate in important decision-making?
Zach Glass 10/30/2025 6:40 AMTo share you opinion on who you want and have a say for. being able to cast a vote isn't a everday thing and wait 4 years -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyHow is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?
Zach Glass 10/29/2025 7:32 AMVery, it's a college that has lights on all the time.It affects because of the light at night when trying to sleep and having you eyes strain on these bright lights. The more light you look at during the more tired you are especially electronics. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodMichael Pollan states that “it is better to pay the grocer (our edit: or the farmer!) than the doctor.” What are your thoughts on this assertion?
Zach Glass 10/29/2025 7:31 AMVery true. take the steps now so later on you aren't seeing the doctor with internal problems because you couldn't eat and do the right habits for some time. Think about the long term rather than short. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?
Zach Glass 10/29/2025 7:30 AMIt made me more of a strong and independent person who can chase goals without the help of others. Soccer is a big part of it and growing up as it helped me get through stuff with my mind be taken away into a better spot -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationHalf of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Does this statistic describe your own transportation habits? If so, how might you incorporate more muscle-powered transportation in your daily life?
Zach Glass 10/29/2025 7:29 AMIt does demonstrate my habits because it's a quick and easy way to get there without walking as it takes more time. You can incorporate it by taking the bus to save gas and less pollution but also takes bikes which are used for exercise and transportation without paying the consequences to the environment -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Zach Glass 10/29/2025 7:27 AMNot buying plastic water bottles from the store and carrying a water bottle with you at all times to eliminate waste. This helps with the ocean plastic problems and the pollution in the air as it has increased since the earlier ages when their wasn't plastic. -
Zach Glass 10/29/2025 7:09 AMIt's going amazing, I am loving these challenges and engaging in the community. It not only helps others but myself as well and becoming a better person each day as you make health changes to your day to day life.
