Waste

While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

Some barriers could consist of having to carry around a reusable bottle and keep track off them throughout busy days. As well as staying on top of cleaning the bottle and they can be pricey. A permanent habit is very possible, the more you do something, the more it can become a habit for you. Get used to filling up your water bottle before class everyday.

The campus ecochallenge is going very well, it has definitely helped me stay more accountable and conscious of my everyday actions that can impact the environment around me. I have found it helpful to carry around one reusable bottle that can continue to fill up, rather than just throw away after one use. I have also been able to save some money not having to buy plastic water bottles.

  Hello Morgan! The ecochallenge has been going well for me, too. I also pretty much only use a reusable bottle now. I haven't used any plastic water bottles for quite some time. It is awesome that you have been able to save some money as well! It is a nice feeling doing something that is both good for the environment but also benefits you immediately.
