  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Waste Use a Reusable Water Bottle
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

One barrier to using reusable bottles and tap water is that it is really inconvenient . I usually have my dorm fridge filled with plastic water bottles and just grab one whenever I am thirsty. I also carry them around with me all day. By using a reusable bottle, I can look for refilling stations around campus and reduce my use of plastic bottles.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Energy Choose Clean/Renewable Energy
How might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to clean energy?

I can talk to my parents and brothers about finding ways to use clean energy and show them what I have learned in this class.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Water Say No to Plastic Straws
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

I use plastic baggies when I make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every morning so I can eat them throughout the day. I use a lot of those. I could find a reusable wrap for them so I am not throwing out so much plastic each day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation Use Public Transit
The US spends roughly 20% of its federal budget on defense. In contrast, 2% goes to education, 20% goes to social security and just 3% goes to transportation infrastructure. Do these numbers surprise you at all? Why or why not? How would you adjust them if you could?

Those numbers really surprise me. Transportation infrastructure is so important. If we don't have the infrastructure for our roads and railways, how are we going to transport goods and services that will improve our economy? It makes no sense. Infrastructure is the foundation of our country and needs to be maintained regularly.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

It cost more to buy, transport, feed, and raise animals used for their meat. Eating meat leaves a huge carbon footprint.
