  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature
Father Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?

My thoughts, and what I truly want for myself as a person not what everyone else wants for me.

    • 15-DAY STREAK
Being mindful about when you are buying things is important to lessen the accumulation of unnecessary items. When you go to a store having a list is important. Also, staying on track and not buying those dollar sections they have right when you walk in or when your in line to check out that is how they get you and you buy lots unnecessary items.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    • 15-DAY STREAK
    1. Always be your authentic self
    2. Have the courage to start brand new at any moment
    3. Hold yourself accountable
    4. Treat others how you want to be treated

I feel like these are the MOST and prominent core values I hold for myself. Lately, I have found myself being unapologetically me. I have lessened how much others think of me and just been myself. At my age I feel like this can be a hard concept to grasp. Another one of my core values is being okay with change and starting over. Life is full of ups and downs and it is what you make of those up and downs and changes. If you need to start over its okay and life will go on. #3 hold yourself accountable. Always be accountable for your own actions and doings its okay to mistakes but you have to learn and grow from them and not keep making them. #4 Treat others how you want to be treated I feel like goes without saying. Do not treat someone how you don't want to be treated. I feel like all these values are extremely important and it was hard for me to rank them, but I just want off of what most I align with and try to practice everyday!

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity
How is creativity a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity?

    • 15-DAY STREAK
Creativity is necessary when practicing simplicity by being realistic and not overbuying unnecessary items. While I was at Walmart today, I had to refrain from buying unnecessary items I did not need. I have fallen victim for years to overconsumption and buying stuff I did not need and just creating waste.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Simplicity
How might practicing work-life balance lead to a more sustainable life for yourself? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?

    • 15-DAY STREAK
Working 8 hours (or less) can lead to a more sustainable life by being well balanced being able to have a life outside of work and being able to get the rest your body needs to be a productive human being. Also, work-life balance can promote good habits and more sustainable habits. Like going for that walk instead of driving to the drive or maybe even riding your bike somewhere
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
While water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?

    • 15-DAY STREAK
By making this a permanent habit this could could reduce the waste my household has. I feel like using a reusable water bottle could be a ripple effect. Once, I start consistently using a water bottle I could try and use something else reusable like silverware or plates at home instead of opting for paper or plastic of these two household items!
