  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
What do you do if you find yourself in the situation of needing a bag for items but don't have a reusable one with you or aren't allowed to use the one you brought? Carry things out in your hands? In a cart? Accept a disposable one? If you find yourself in this position often, what system could you put in place to try to create a successful habit of not using plastic bags?

I usually use my hands most of the time. If I am buying a large quanitity I will use a cart, and put all the things I purchase in the backseat and trunk of my car. The way to not use plastic bags is to have re-usable carrying shopping bags.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four in the US spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Does this surprise you? Where would you rather use this money?

This does not surprise me with how much waste I see online in videos floating in the ocean. I have seen the way South Korea takes care of this problem and it is very efficient. They compress the food waste down into animal feed, simultaneously continuing animal life AND not putting food to waste. I would rather use this money to pay towards organic foods.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Many people say that “you can’t feed the world with just organic food.” How would you respond to that statement?

Up until last year in May, my parents have come to the realization that all the food in the United States is sugarized and includes so many unnecessary chemicals that are poisoning us and lowering the average life span, leading to cancers and diabetes becoming more common for deaths. I believe organic food is possible, these corporations just need to be destroyed.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our planet and other people?

I never go meatless for most meals unless it is a Friday during lent. Coming from a Catholic family has bestilled a lot of beliefs in to me that I live by.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
What is one food choice that you make, or could make, that would do more good and less harm?

I absolutely love a good steak. Being able to get it from my local farm market is so much bettrr than having a processed steak from a grocery store. It's packed with protein to help me make progress in the gym.
