Adelyn's actions

Nature

Go For A Daily Walk in Nature

I will take a 5-minute walk outside each day around my campus, neighborhood, or local green space to connect with nature.

COMPLETED 3
DAILY ACTIONS

Nature

Spend Time Outside

I will replace 5 minutes per day typically spent inside (computer time, watching television, etc.) with quality time outside.

COMPLETED 5
DAILY ACTIONS

Simplicity

Think About My Core Values

We may find more meaning and joy in life when our actions are aligned with our personal values. I will determine what my top 3-5 core values are so that I can better align my actions with them.

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Food

Enjoy a Meatless Meal

Producing 1 kg of beef emits as much greenhouse gas as driving 150 miles, meanwhile, 1 kg of veggies or grains leaves a much lighter footprint! This week, I’ll shrink my climate impact by having 1 meatless meals and/or 1 vegan meals each day.

COMPLETED 4
DAILY ACTIONS

Health

Learn About Local Environmental Justice Concerns

Environmental issues often impact marginalized communities the most. I will spend 4 minutes researching environmental justice concerns in my region, who is affected by them, and local initiatives to address these concerns.

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Waste

Reduce Single-Use Disposables

Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. I will find out how I can limit single-use items and do my best to limit the waste I generate. I will keep 2 containers out of the landfill each day.

COMPLETED 3
DAILY ACTIONS

Community

Explore the Community Feed and Connect with Others

I will spend 2 minutes reading the Ecochallenge feed each day and giving high fives or commenting on posts by people who I don't know, but whose content inspires or interests me.

COMPLETED 2
DAILY ACTIONS

Energy

Turn Off Lights and Electronics

I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.

COMPLETED 4
DAILY ACTIONS

Community

Talk To My Friends and Classmates

I will research the social or environmental issues in my community that matter to me and tell 2 friends and classmates each day about what I learn. I will also share what I learn on the Ecochallenge feed.

COMPLETED 1
DAILY ACTION

Waste

Research Local Waste and Landfill Sites

I will spend 3 minutes finding out where landfills and/or toxic waste sites are situated in my region and which communities are most impacted by these sites.

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Feedback Survey

Take the Campus Ecochallenge Feedback Survey

Tell us what you thought! Take a short survey about your experience to help us improve future events. It only takes a few minutes — and when you complete the survey, you'll earn points!

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Health

Express Gratitude and Random Acts of Kindness

Small acts of kindness and gratitude can brighten someone's day and create a positive ripple effect. I will express gratitude to people or perform random acts of kindness to spread joy and connection.

COMPLETED 1
DAILY ACTION

Water

Learn About Water Justice

Access to clean water is a basic right, yet not everyone has it. I will spend 3 minutes learning about water justice issues and who is affected.

COMPLETED 1
DAILY ACTION

Water

Reuse the water you don't drink.

Have you ever cad just a little water in the bottom of your cup and then just thrown it down the drain? Reuse that water, water a plant with it.

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Energy

Calculate My Carbon Impact

Knowing our carbon footprint is the first step to reducing it. I will calculate my carbon impact and identify lifestyle changes that could reduce the carbon footprint and impacts on the environment. I will share my commitments to lowering my impact on the feed.
