REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Zero-Waste CookingIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for using every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable (including the skins, tops, stalks, etc.) during your next meal prep?
Gabriel Hicks (901) 4/21/2024 10:41 AMI can use the whole vegetable by using the parts such as skins, tops, and stalks in soups so that I don't waste these parts of the vegetable. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergy Turn it offHow is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?
Gabriel Hicks (901) 4/21/2024 10:39 AMIn my town, we get the majority of our power from nuclear power. Nuclear power plants impact the environment by taking up a lot of space in nature and this causes the local animals in the ecosystems to have to relocate based on the location of the nuclear power plant. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaste Use a Reusable Water BottleWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Gabriel Hicks (901) 4/21/2024 10:35 AMHonestly, the biggest reason for me picking plastic water bottles is convenience, so making it a conscious habit to refill my water bottle when I see a water refilling station would make it a permanent decision to use reusable bottles. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth Exercise DailyHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Gabriel Hicks (901) 4/21/2024 10:33 AMI can try to make a conscious effort to do cardio in nature such as hikes or runs rather than choosing an indoor treadmill. Additionally, I could spend time with friends by playing basketball outside at the park.
