Noelle's actions
Nature
Enjoy the Sunrise/Sunset
I will enjoy the sunrise and/or sunset each day.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Simplicity
Less Screen Time
I will replace 30 minute(s) of screen time each day with other activities.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Waste
RESEARCH LOCAL WASTE SITES
I will spend 20 minutes finding out where landfills and/or toxic waste sites are situated in my region and which communities are most impacted by these sites.
Nature
Do Nature Activities
I will engage in nature-based activities alone, or with my friends or family, for 30 minute(s) each day. (This can be anything from going on a walk or hike, to noticing the leaves changing color, to reading a book with nature themes.)

Noelle Hill 2/04/2025 10:41 AMI saw rare Black Crowned Night Herons in Rock Island! An adult was spotted before I went, but I only ended up seeing the juveniles. However, it was an exciting addition to my bird life list! I would attach a picture, but I got so excited when I saw the birds that I forgot to take one! -

Noelle Hill 1/31/2025 7:05 PMI went birding today and saw about fifty Wood Ducks! I saw more ducks than can be seen in the pictures below. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteIn what neighborhoods or areas of your region are landfills or other waste sites located? Which communities are most affected by these locations?
Noelle Hill 1/23/2025 8:06 PMThe landfill is located by the airport. No one lives right next to the area because it is surrounding by orchard and other trees. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteWhile water bottles are needed for health and safety in certain places, we can do more to reduce the unnecessary use of them. What are the barriers to you using reusable bottles and tap water instead of bottled water? How could you make this a permanent habit?
Noelle Hill 1/23/2025 4:23 PMMy main barrier is forgetfulness. I usually have a reusable water bottle with me and when I forget it, I will buy bottled water. I think practicing the habit of packing my reusable water bottle will help make this a permanent habit. -

Noelle, so cool that you added the photo of the Great Blue Heron. My Dad was a huge bird enthusiast and one of his favorites was the Great Blue Heron. I always think of him when I see one.
