  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Water
What did you notice about your habits or routines when limiting your showers to five minutes? What changes—if any—do you think you’ll continue long-term?

I was much quicker, and I didn't particularly enjoy doing it, but that's okay. I do tend to take shorter showers most of the time, but I don't think I will do 5-minute showers long term.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
Before you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now? What was the most challenging part of reducing refined sugar, and how did you overcome it?

    Brooklyn Holmes 101 11/06/2025 2:46 PM
Yes, I had a really bad tendency with sugar but have succeeded in lessening my overall sugar intake. It was very difulct but made me feel so much better!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
How can practicing Loving-Kindness Meditation be helpful to the health of the environment?

I actually used to meditate quite a lot more, but it absolutely helps you feel more relaxed and in control of your life and feelings.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet? What fruits or vegetables did you try this week, and which was your favorite?

    Brooklyn Holmes 101's avatar
    Brooklyn Holmes 101 11/06/2025 10:36 AM
It does make me feel more energetic and less groggy. I had a good bit of strawberries and apples for breakfast. For dinner, I am making beef stew with celery, onion, carrots, etc.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
Why is voting important to creating a just, sustainable, and thriving world? In what other ways can you actively participate in important decision-making?

    Brooklyn Holmes 101's avatar
    Brooklyn Holmes 101 11/06/2025 10:18 AM
Voting is crucial to everything we do in our daily lives. It gives voices to marginalized groups and allows us to fight for, not only our country's well-being, but also allows us to stand up for our community. I just voted Tuesday in our local elections.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What makes you feel connected to your campus, your neighbors, or another kind of community in your life?

    Brooklyn Holmes 101's avatar
    Brooklyn Holmes 101 11/06/2025 10:16 AM
I am good friends with many of my peers, it is very refreshing to have people with similar interests as me in my classes this semester.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
What did you learn about your neighbors or community through this action? How can building connections with your neighbors improve your community?

I am new to my neighborhood, so I have not had the chance to introduce myself to many people yet. The neighbors immediately on my left is very kind, and apparently love our dog.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Waste
Reducing your paper mail can reduce mental clutter as well as physical waste -- by reducing what is coming in, you can reduce what is going into the recycling bin too. How does it make you feel? What is the next step you will take to reduce your waste?

The second I moved out, I put as many of my bills and mail as paperless as possible.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature
Father Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?

It was very cold, but the warmth of the sun comforted me once it came up. I haven't done that since I was younger, so that was nice to experience.
