    Transportation
How has your access to various kinds of transportation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

Growing up with access to cars as the main form of transportation made driving feel like the its the only option, especially for convenience reasons. But now, as a college student with more exposure to walkable places on campus, I’m starting to see the value in more sustainable and active transportation options, not just for the environment, but for saving money and staying healthy too. It's easier for me to have motivation for walking to destinations with all the running I do for cross country and track.

      Hi Tyler!
I feel the same way. It definitely feels better, for many reasons, to walk to your destination instead of drive. Me personally, I feel more alive by choosing to walk somewhere and it relieves some stress as well. But yeah, I thoroughly agree with you!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transportation
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Does this statistic describe your own transportation habits? If so, how might you incorporate more muscle-powered transportation in your daily life?

As a college student, this statistic does reflect some of my transportation habits because of how easy it is to hop in a car and leave, even for short trips. However, I started walking more around campus and nearby areas, especially for quick errands and classes within a short radius, which saves money, reduce emissions, and is a great way to stay active. It's also easier for me to walk compared to driving this time of the year due to the nice weather.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health
How does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet?

Eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat can improve personal health by lowering the risk of chronic diseases and boosting energy levels. It also reduces the demand for livestock farming, which helps conserve water, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and preserve natural habitats which benefits both people and the planet as a whole.
