Stay on the Ground
Instead of traveling by plane, I will find an alternative way to accomplish the goals of an upcoming trip (i.e. telepresence, vacation locally).
Water
Collect Rain Water
I will create a rain garden or bioswale or use rain barrels to collect water for outdoor watering needs.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Daisy ECO201.104 Johnston 4/22/2025 8:00 PMAs a college student, a lot of the times a quick coffee at Starbucks is a part of my daily routine. But I spend a lot of time at college, and maybe going straight to work after, so its easier to throw away cups rather than wait all day and carry it around to wash them when I get home. Its nice knowing I'm making a difference andd also supporting companies who encourage reasuable cups -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationWhat was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?
Daisy ECO201.104 Johnston 4/22/2025 7:56 PMIn June, I am going from Eguishime, France to Lloret de Mar, Spain. My original plan was to fly into Barcelona and take a bus to my ended destination, but I was able to find train routes that will take me the 610 miles and actually be cheaper! Always doing my research in the future can help me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureHow do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?
Daisy ECO201.104 Johnston 4/22/2025 7:43 PMPicking up on things you would never notice, like little parks, coffee shops, and stores. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteOur ability to recycle certain things ebbs and flows based upon many factors, including market demand for recyclables. Luckily there are places that accept uncommon things to recycle or dispose of in a less harmful way. What did you find when looking for places to recycle items that can't be recycled in your curbside bin?
Daisy ECO201.104 Johnston 4/22/2025 7:41 PMYork offers so many ways to recycle. They take old electronics, Host festivals, like the "Go Green in the City" on April 26th, and electric companies that pay for used refrigerators and air conditioners! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow do you practice self care?
Daisy ECO201.104 Johnston 4/22/2025 7:02 PMMaking it a routine, and something that I enjoy, so at the end of the day when it's time to go to the gym, or something as simple as a shower and a face mask, it feels like a treat to myself. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityWhat are your top 3-5 core values? How did you narrow it down to those as being your core values?
Daisy ECO201.104 Johnston 4/22/2025 7:01 PM- be endlessly curious, learn about the world, the people around me, and the cultures that make up everyone and everything around me
-always chase a better version of myself, growth is key
-be resiliant
I feel I'm a very ambitious person, and I have a lot of big goals, so understanding that these are core that will shape me and lead to my ultimate goals was key -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyWhat inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?
Daisy ECO201.104 Johnston 4/22/2025 6:56 PMI think understanding that advocacy for import issues like these is very important as someone in my generation. I have a long life ahead of me, and keeping my home and planet safe and healthy will help ensure that I can live a long and safe life.
