REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Watch a Documentary about Food SovereigntyHow does food sovereignty address the complex transition from localized food systems to modern global food systems?
Samip Kafle 10/06/2024 4:17 PMFood sovereignty is one such approach towards this transition from localized to modern global food systems, and at its core, it rests on the rights of local communities to own their food production, distribution, and consumption. It is because of this industrialization of food systems, which has taken a course of centralization for profit maximization, that many local communities have lost access to traditional sustainable ways of food production and consumption. Such is often accompanied by negative repercussions like loss of biodiversity, food insecurity, and environmental degradation. -
