Meaghan's actions

Water

Conserve Toilet Water

I will save water in my dorm or shared living space by only flushing the toilet when necessary—potentially conserving up to 12 gallons (45 L) per day.

COMPLETED 14
DAILY ACTIONS

Food

Make Smart Seafood Choices

I will visit seafoodwatch.org or download the app and commit to making better seafood choices for a healthier ocean.

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Water

Understand My Water Footprint

Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Nature

Enjoy the Sunrise or Sunset

I will enjoy the sunrise and/or sunset each day.

COMPLETED 14
DAILY ACTIONS

Health

Exercise Daily

Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 100 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.

COMPLETED 13
DAILY ACTIONS

Food

Enjoy a Meatless Meal

Producing 1 kg of beef emits as much greenhouse gas as driving 150 miles, meanwhile, 1 kg of veggies or grains leaves a much lighter footprint! This week, I’ll shrink my climate impact by having 2 meatless meals and/or 1 vegan meals each day.

COMPLETED 12
DAILY ACTIONS

Waste

Research Local Waste and Landfill Sites

I will spend 15 minutes finding out where landfills and/or toxic waste sites are situated in my region and which communities are most impacted by these sites.

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Simplicity

Reflect on My Needs Versus Wants

I will adopt a "Needs Vs. Wants" approach and only buy things I need.

    Meaghan Kincaid 901 11/06/2025 9:00 AM
In the neighborhoods or areas of my region, there are no landfills but there is a waste site around 20 minutes away from my house that we use. The communities that are most affected by these locations are the people and environment where the waste site is.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Meaghan Kincaid 901 11/03/2025 11:03 AM
What a sustainable water future in my region would look like is making sure that we are all doing our part in using less water in our homes. Tracking your water will help you and others in your region help the environment for long-term.

    Meaghan Kincaid 901 11/03/2025 10:58 AM
How creativity is a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity is by understanding and doing what makes you happy and feel good for doing less stressful things in life.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Meaghan Kincaid 901 11/02/2025 4:39 PM
My experience intentionally trying to eat less meat, opened my eyes to seeing how much meat i truly do eat. This challenge has really opened my eyes to bigger questions in my life, regarding environment and making sure I'm doing everything possible to help keep this environment, people, and animals safe and healthy.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Nature
Father Thomas Berry says, "... our primary purpose is celebration. Celebration of the dawn and the sunset and the different seasons of the year is a religious ritual, a way in which humans can establish their integral relationship with the universe, with the planet Earth." What is your response to Berry's assertion?

    Meaghan Kincaid 901 11/02/2025 4:35 PM
My response would be to enjoy everything, even the small joys in life. I think people get easily distracted and stress, and don't enjoy what they have. To prevent this, we must be thankful for what we have, and not worry about what we don't have.
