Health
Enjoy Fruits and Veggies
Adding fruits and vegetables to our meals nourishes our body and the planet. I will prepare and enjoy 1 servings of a variety of colorful fruits and veggies.
Simplicity
Replace Screen Time with Other Activities
I will replace 120 minutes of screen time each day with other activities.
Health
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 60 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Waste
Research Local Waste and Landfill Sites
I will spend 75 minutes finding out where landfills and/or toxic waste sites are situated in my region and which communities are most impacted by these sites.
Waste
Repair a Broken Item
I will repair at least one item that is broken, but is repairable. This might be items like garden tools, sewing machine, small appliances, electronics, clothing, and more.
Nature
Explore a New Trail or Nature Walk
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.
Transportation
Walk Instead of Driving
I will walk 2 miles each day instead of driving.
Transportation
Share Rides with Others
I will sign up for a car-sharing service or coordinate ride shares with roommates, classmates, or campus peers to reduce the number of vehicles on the road.
Community
Watch a Documentary About Racial Injustice
I will watch 3 documentaries about systemic racism to learn more about how it affects us and the planet.
Nature
Learn to Grow Plants My Way
I will spend 60 minutes exploring how I can grow plants in my space—whether it’s a dorm windowsill, apartment patio, or a shared campus garden.
Feedback Survey
Take the Campus Ecochallenge Feedback Survey
Tell us what you thought! Take a short survey about your experience to help us improve future events. It only takes a few minutes — and when you complete the survey, you'll earn points!
Health
Know My Core Four Biometrics
I will get my Core Four Biometrics tests (blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and BMI) if available to me through campus or local clinics.
Energy
Switch To Cold Water for Laundry
I will switch to washing my clothes in cold water, saving up to 1,600 lbs of CO2 over the course of the next year.
Health
Go Get A Check Up
Regular health check-ups help prevent problems before they start. I will schedule or attend a medical, dental, or mental health check-up to take care of my well-being. I will develop a plan with my medical professionals to achieve my best health and live my life to the fullest.
Food
Advocate for More Food Options
Access to affordable, nutritious food is a food justice issue. I will advocate for local or organic food options at work, on campus, or in the spaces I frequent.
Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 2 disposable cups to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.
Water
Brush My Teeth Without Running Water
I will save up to 4 gallons (15 L) of water each day by turning it off while brushing my teeth.
Food
Buy From a Farmers Market
I will try to shop at a farmers market or food co-op, if one is accessible, to support local farmers and businesses. By doing so, I may be able to learn more about who produces the food I eat and goods I buy.
Health
Express Gratitude and Random Acts of Kindness
Small acts of kindness and gratitude can brighten someone's day and create a positive ripple effect. I will express gratitude to people or perform random acts of kindness to spread joy and connection.
Simplicity
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a walk each day to clear my mind, get some fresh air, and support my physical and mental health as a student.
Waste
Use a Reusable Water Bottle
I will keep 4 disposable plastic bottles from entering the waste stream by using a reusable water bottle.
Community
Learn About Native Communities in My Area
I will use the resource links provided and spend 60 minutes learning about the native populations that lived in my area prior to colonization, and what I can do to support those that still exist.

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityIndigenous speaker and activist Winona LaDuke says that, "most indigenous ceremonies, if you look to their essence, are about the restoration of balance — they are a reaffirmation of our relationship to creation. That is our intent: to restore, and then to retain balance and honor our part in creation." Why is balance important to sustainability?
kaden kinnear 4/08/2026 3:26 PMBecause it ensures that natural, social, and economic systems can coexist without one being overused or damaged, when balance is maintained, resources are used responsibly so they can continue to support life for future generations -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat changes would help food insecure regions have access to local, seasonal foods? How can your choices contribute to these changes?
kaden kinnear 4/06/2026 2:02 PMLocal Markets and popups are a great way to provide access to seasonal produce for a communnity. Volunteering at the KCC farmers market was a way I was able to contribute to this; helping a family owned stand sell fresh seasonal products. -
