Creativity is a necessary ingredient for practicing simplicity because it allows us to strip away unnecessary complexity and find elegant, effective solutions. Achieving simplicity isn’t about making things plain or bland—it’s about distilling ideas and processes down to their essence in a way that still conveys meaning and impact. This often requires creative thinking, whether that’s finding resourceful ways to solve problems, communicating clearly by reimagining how to present information, or continually adapting and refining our approaches. By using creativity, we make thoughtful choices that bring clarity and purpose, resulting in a simplicity that is powerful and intentional.

The Ecochallenge is going really well so far! I’ve been making an effort to listen to FOD podcasts to learn more about sustainable living, and I make time each day for walks outside to spend more time in nature. I even started learning how to grow some small plants in my dorm, which has been fun and rewarding. To unplug, I’ve been disconnecting from email more frequently, and I always try to meditate or create a moment of silence each day to relax and reconnect. Overall, it’s been a great way to build new sustainable habits.
