Feedback Survey
Take the Campus Ecochallenge Feedback Survey
Tell us what you thought! Take a short survey about your experience to help us improve future events. It only takes a few minutes — and when you complete the survey, you'll earn points!
Community
Listen to Equity and Justice Podcasts
I will spend 60 minutes listening to a podcast about equity and justice.
Health
Prioritize Getting Enough Sleep
Good sleep is essential for a healthy body and mind. I will prioritize getting 7 hours of quality sleep each night and develop a bedtime routine that supports rest and relaxation.
Food
Buy From a Farmers Market
I will try to shop at a farmers market or food co-op, if one is accessible, to support local farmers and businesses. By doing so, I may be able to learn more about who produces the food I eat and goods I buy.
Energy
Complete an Online Energy Audit
I will complete an online energy audit of my home, office, or dorm room and identify my next steps for saving energy.
Water
Mulch the Base of Trees and Plants
I will mulch the base of trees or plants near my dorm, apartment, or school garden to reduce runoff and help soil retain water.
Health
Eliminate Toxic Plastics
I will avoid buying toxic plastics - including polycarbonate, polystyrene and polyvinyl - and instead replace them with durable non-plastic options.
Food
Plant an Herb Garden
I will plant an herb garden in my home, workplace, or dorm room.
Waste
Complete a Personal Waste Audit
I will collect all of my unrecyclable, non-compostable trash to raise my awareness of how much I send to the landfill. I will share a photo and reflection of this action on the feed.
Nature
Learn to Grow Plants My Way
I will spend 5 minutes exploring how I can grow plants in my space—whether it’s a dorm windowsill, apartment patio, or a shared campus garden.
Water
Collect Rain Water for Outdoor Use
I will create a rain garden or bioswale or use rain barrels to collect water for outdoor watering needs.
Simplicity
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a walk each day to clear my mind, get some fresh air, and support my physical and mental health as a student.
Health
Enjoy Fruits and Veggies
Adding fruits and vegetables to our meals nourishes our body and the planet. I will prepare and enjoy 5 servings of a variety of colorful fruits and veggies.
Health
Know My Core Four Biometrics
I will get my Core Four Biometrics tests (blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and BMI) if available to me through campus or local clinics.
Simplicity
Meditate or Create a Moment of Silence
I will meditate or create a moment of silence for 5 minutes each day to reflect on things important to me.
Simplicity
Replace Screen Time with Other Activities
I will replace 15 minutes of screen time each day with other activities.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Lynette Lueders 4/10/2026 6:08 AMOur family loves to use straws, but we've made an effort to get reusable straws (usually metal if we can) so we're not contributing to more waste and using harmful plastics. Our other most commonly used single use item is plastic bags like zip lock. We're going to work on switching to reusable options that are better for us and the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyWhat most interested or surprised you about your own energy footprint? What changes did you make or will you make?
Lynette Lueders 4/08/2026 9:14 AMWe utilize so much more energy than we realize - leaving fans on, leaving small appliances plugged in, etc. This audit is going to become at least a yearly priority so our family is aware of what we're using and what may need to still be used. We've made an effort to make sure that things we're not using are unplugged like the toaster and the coffee pot etc. We're making a further effort to make sure lights are turned off, fans are off unless we're in the room, etc.-
Kristi Gifford 4/09/2026 1:17 PMTotally agree—it's wild how much energy gets used without us even noticing. Sounds like your family is already making some great changes, and making the audit a yearly thing is a smart idea. Little habits like unplugging appliances and turning off lights really do add up!

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterWhere are your nearest natural bodies of water? How might they be affected by runoff?
Lynette Lueders 4/08/2026 8:51 AMMost of our natural bodies of water are rivers - the majority of the nearby lakes are man-made reservoirs. We see runoff in our aprea primarily in these areas:
Agricultural runoff: Fertilizers, pesticides, and animal waste from nearby farm fields can wash into the rivers after rainstorms.Urban and suburban runoff: As urban areas continue to grow, rainwater flowing over streets, parking lots, and lawns can carry oil residues, lawn chemicals, sediment, and trash into nearby creeks that feed the River.Erosion and sediment: Construction and soil disturbance can increase sediment runoff, making the rivers murkier. Excess sediment can harm aquatic habitats and interfere with fish spawning.Flood-related impacts: During heavy rains or flooding, runoff increases dramatically, flushing larger amounts of pollutants into both rivers and spreading them downstream.
Local stormwater management, buffer strips along waterways, and responsible land use practices all help reduce these effects.-
Kristi Gifford 4/09/2026 1:19 PMLynette, you explained this really well. It makes sense how farming, growing towns, and heavy rain all add to runoff in our rivers. I also like that you mentioned simple ways it can be reduced. Nice job keeping it practical.

Lynette Lueders 4/08/2026 8:40 AMIt's so fun to go through each of the categories and realize what things are already part of my daily living as well as what I can add to my daily practices that I might not have realized before. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Lynette Lueders 4/06/2026 7:50 AMI greatly enjoy my morning walks whether the dog or my kids come with me or not. This morning's timing was beautiful with the sunrise starting over the city. Walking helps wake me up and prepare me for my day!-
