Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a walk each day to clear my mind, get some fresh air, and support my physical and mental health as a student.

Alex Matthews 10/13/2025 8:29 PMToday, went well. Watched a documentary. Studied for my test. -
Alex Matthews 10/11/2025 3:29 PMEcochallenge went well today. I went for a walk around my area, and it was nice, even if it was a little rainy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now? What was the most challenging part of reducing refined sugar, and how did you overcome it?
Alex Matthews 10/10/2025 10:36 AMYes, but it was hard to cut it out. I feel better about my health and have been finding healthier alternatives. -
Alex Matthews 10/10/2025 10:22 AMHello. Things are going well. I am just thinking about how to do some things time-wise. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteWhat surprised you most during your visit? How could your campus or community reduce its overall waste?
Alex Matthews 10/09/2025 6:41 PMI found that there is a lot more waste than I expected and it’s astonishing how fast it is created. My campus should maybe figure out ways to make it clear on what goes where in the recycling and composting system. Lots of times people just don’t know what goes where. So basically baby us students so we can get our act together.-
Korina Gratton 10/10/2025 4:12 PMAgreed! I think also students sometimes face challenges with recycling/composting that the campus doesn't realize (what do I do with this half-full cup of coffee, the recycling has some food residue) - and students often don't have the time or motivation to go deal with it

Alex Matthews 10/08/2025 5:37 PMHello, I’m doing good today. Got quite a bit done. -
Alex Matthews 10/08/2025 7:07 AMThe challenge is going okay. I kind of got busy yesterday but there is always today! I just forgot to check in. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyWhat inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityIndigenous speaker and activist Winona LaDuke says that, "most indigenous ceremonies, if you look to their essence, are about the restoration of balance — they are a reaffirmation of our relationship to creation. That is our intent: to restore, and then to retain balance and honor our part in creation." Why is balance important to sustainability?
Alex Matthews 10/06/2025 4:18 PMBalance is important to a sustainable society and allows us to treasure the good with the bad. Understanding that not everything needs to be perfect and that balancing the environment creates a better community for all. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityHow is equality for trans, femme, and nonbinary people important to a just and sustainable society?
Alex Matthews 10/06/2025 4:16 PMIt allows more people to be comfortable with themselves and gives people more opportunities to get better. It creates a community that is safe for everyone, no matter their gender. It allows us to build our horizons past the binary and rigid rules for gender that society seems to enforce.
