Waste
Use a Reusable Mug
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill each day by using a reusable mug.

Exercise Daily
Exercise is a great stress blaster! I will exercise for 60 minute(s) each day.

Core Values
We may find more meaning and joy in life when our actions are aligned with our personal values. I will determine what my top 3-5 core values are so that I can better align my actions with them.
Nature
Explore My Area
I will explore at least one new hiking trail or nature walk in my area.
Water
Brush My Teeth Without Running Water
I will save up to 8 gallons (30 L) of water each day by turning it off while brushing my teeth.
Energy
Heat and Cool Naturally
I will naturally heat and cool my house, office, or dorm room by opening or closing my windows, curtains, and blinds, and by using fans.
Energy
Turn it off
I will keep lights, electronics, and appliances turned off when not using them.
Simplicity
De-Clutter My Home or Dorm Room

REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyWhat are other ways you could use the power of the sun to reduce your own environmental footprint?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyHow is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?
Henry Mayhew 102 4/22/2025 4:28 PMThe majority of the power generated where I live is from natural gasses and nuclear power. Natural gasses are terrible for the environment while nuclear power has the potential to be even more dangerous if not handled properly. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityWhat are your top 3-5 core values? How did you narrow it down to those as being your core values?
Henry Mayhew 102 4/22/2025 4:22 PMHonesty
Family

REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityHow can you prevent yourself from accumulating more unnecessary things in the future?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureRachel Carson said that we need the beauty and mysteries of the natural world for our spiritual and emotional development. Does that ring true for you? What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time indoors?
Henry Mayhew 102 4/22/2025 4:20 PMSpiritual maybe but not emotional. A culture that spends most of its time indoors is not one that is getting the proper experiences to change and evolve. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterName some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?
Henry Mayhew 102 4/22/2025 12:44 PMLocally is things like sprinklers and hoses while globally is stuff like waste dumping. To improve the health of water systems one can limit the use of water daily in activities that don't require it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Henry Mayhew 102 4/22/2025 12:36 PMI can invite friends to go to the gym with me-

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now?
Henry Mayhew 102 4/22/2025 12:35 PMI did not think I was addicted to sugar but did realize that a lot of things taste worse without it -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWasteMaybe you've heard how good it is to switch from a single use coffee cup to a reusable one, but it's just hard to make the switch. What stands in your way of making this a habit? By identifying the challenges, you can begin to work through them to have better success in taking this action. Knowing the difference you are making, how does it make you feel?
Henry Mayhew 102 4/22/2025 12:19 PMHonestly it was pretty easy as I really don't use disposable cups anyway. It makes me feel pretty good cause I didn't know it was such a big deal and how good I have been at it since I only use reusable cups anyway.
