Ted's actions
Nature
Learn to Grow Plants My Way
I will spend 10 minutes exploring how I can grow plants in my space—whether it’s a dorm windowsill, apartment patio, or a shared campus garden.
Simplicity
Go for a Daily Walk
I will take a walk each day to clear my mind, get some fresh air, and support my physical and mental health as a student.
Community
Talk To My Friends and Classmates
I will research the social or environmental issues in my community that matter to me and tell 5 friends and classmates each day about what I learn. I will also share what I learn on the Ecochallenge feed.
Transportation
Walk Instead of Driving
I will walk 2 miles each day instead of driving.
Energy
Heat and Cool Naturally
I will naturally heat and cool my house, office, or dorm room by opening or closing my windows, curtains, and blinds, and by using fans.
Food
Choose Organic Ingredients
Organic farming practices are healthier and safer for our planet, animals, and people. I will enjoy 3 meals cooked with organic ingredients per day.
Nature
Do a Nature Activity
I will engage in nature-based activities alone, or with my friends or family, for 30 minutes each day. (This can be anything from going on a walk or hike, to noticing the leaves changing color, to reading a book with nature themes.)
Water
Brush My Teeth Without Running Water
I will save up to 4 gallons (15 L) of water each day by turning it off while brushing my teeth.
Health
Eliminate Toxic Plastics
I will avoid buying toxic plastics - including polycarbonate, polystyrene and polyvinyl - and instead replace them with durable non-plastic options.
Waste
Collect Litter While Plogging or Plalking
Each day, I will go on a plog or plalk for 30 minutes and collect 10 items of litter.

Ted Mucciarone 11/18/2025 2:54 PMThe eco challenge continues. Sometimes i forget how easy it is to fall into everyday unsustainable activities. The most important part in my opinion to avoid this, is education. Make sure you share your actions and what they do for our planet to get more of a community element to the eco challenge. -
Ted Mucciarone 10/28/2025 3:09 PMThis morning I started brushing my teeth with the water on. Good thing I remembered the Ecochallenge and turned it off real fast! It was crazy to think about how much water we waste not even thinking. Very thankful for the ecochallenge-

REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureAre you a gardener or house plant lover? Why or why not? What do you need to elevate your plant care skills?
Ted Mucciarone 10/16/2025 3:05 PMI am a garden lover! House plants are a cool idea too, i might have to start using them. But nothing feels better than growing from the earth and providing for the family. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityFresh air and movement are good for our entire being and can help us think more clearly and creatively. How does taking a walk each day affect yourself and/or your work?
Ted Mucciarone 10/16/2025 3:01 PMIt helps me calm down a little and find my breath. It's rare we get time to just exist these days. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureWhat did you observe while spending time outside -- through sight, sound, smell and/or touch?
Ted Mucciarone 10/16/2025 3:00 PMI love surfing while spending my time outside. Beautiful views mixed with a good workout is the best. I am activating all 5 senses while surfing -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationHalf of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Does this statistic describe your own transportation habits? If so, how might you incorporate more muscle-powered transportation in your daily life?
Ted Mucciarone 10/16/2025 2:58 PMNo way! I walk as much as I can, I would say driving accounts for 50% of my transportation. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterDo you know where your campus or community gets its water? If not, how could you find out?

Ted Mucciarone 10/14/2025 3:01 PMEco challenge for president! We are all making an impact in saving our planet. My favorite eco challenge activity would have to be plogging without a doubt!
