Kelsey Perriello 4/22/2025 6:13 AMLast day everyone!!! This has been such a great experience and a wonderful way to wrap up so many of the themes (healing and creation especially) that we've been discussing and learning about this semester. This challenge has definitely made me more aware of the small actions I can take to help our environment, and the immense impact we can make when we all work together, great work everyone :) -
Kelsey Perriello 4/21/2025 6:57 PMBefore I left home to head back to campus today, I took my dog on a hike at a new trail I hadn't explored before. Even though I lived in my hometown my whole life, this challenge has inspired me to constantly look for new nature to discover and explore! -
Kelsey Perriello 4/13/2025 5:52 PMOfficially in the top 5 of the team leaderboard!! Also noticed we're the team with the least members in the top 5 which shows how dedicated everyone's been, keep up the good work everybody :) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONNatureHow might spending more time outdoors enhance your brainpower?
Kelsey Perriello 4/13/2025 5:50 PMGetting fresh air and spending time outdoors can do wonders for mental health. I took the time this weekend to go on walks on new trails, which really helped my anxiety about the upcoming finals period. It calms me down and allows me to more efficiently study without overthinking everything. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationWhat was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?
Kelsey Perriello 4/13/2025 5:49 PMI decided to travel by train, the east coast has such a great train system and often taking the train and adding a few hours to my trip can make such an impact without being too much of a hardship on my travel plans. In the future, before buying a plane ticket, I'll be more diligent about checking for other modes of transportation. -
Kelsey Perriello 4/10/2025 1:11 PMWe're in the top 10 of the team leaderboard!! Get work everyone :) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSimplicityWhat are your top 3-5 core values? How did you narrow it down to those as being your core values?
Kelsey Perriello 4/08/2025 5:15 PMMy core values I determined were compassion, honesty, equity, and balance. When I reflected on this action so many values came to mind, but I chose my core values based on both the values I appreciate in other people, and how I was raised. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow do you practice self care?
Kelsey Perriello 4/08/2025 5:13 PMI practice self care by scheduling in breaks in my days to take walks and listen to music. Life can get so busy and stressful on campus so getting outside of Georgetown and taking time to worry about school are essential for my mental and physical health! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow does food sovereignty address the complex transition from localized food systems to modern global food systems?
Kelsey Perriello 4/02/2025 6:57 PMFood sovereignty emphasizes the right of communities to control their own food sources, preserving cultural traditions, and promoting sustainable practices. I watched the documentary Gather in which the transition is seen through the struggles of Indigenous groups who have been displaced from their ancestral lands and subjected to policies that ruined their traditional food practices. The film shows how their people are trying to teach the younger members of their community the importance of maintaining their culture, and how food sovereignty helps protect and preserve the land. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealthHow can you incorporate other personal values (like quality time with friends or spending time in nature) into your exercise routine?
Kelsey Perriello 4/02/2025 6:47 PMIn addition to my regular workout routine, I love to go on long walks with friends to stay in touch while also getting fresh air and exercise!
