Reduce refined sugar
I will keep track and reduce my consumption of refined sugars, including sweetened beverages, candy, and processed foods.

Heat and Cool Naturally
I will naturally heat and cool my house, office, or dorm room by opening or closing my windows, curtains, and blinds, and by using fans.
Energy

REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyHow is electricity generated where you live? How does it impact the environment, animals, and humans?
Quincy Quaye 103 4/10/2025 6:37 AMAccording to the U.S Energy Information Administration, Pennsylvania is the 3rd largest producer of electricity in the nation, and a majority of it's in-state electricity is generated by natural gas-fired plants (59% in 2023). While these plants emit far less carbon pollution than coal-fired plants, they still produce C02 as a byproduct. This leads to harmful environmental effects like water and air pollution, and contributes to climate change. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEnergyWhat are other ways you could use the power of the sun to reduce your own environmental footprint?
Quincy Quaye 103 4/08/2025 6:51 AMWhile harnessing the sun's power through solar panels seems a bit pricey at first, they could end up saving you more than you think in the long run. I have family members who actually get paid by their electric company for the excess energy produced by their panels by participating in a monthly net metering program.
