My Eco-challenge is going very well. Spending at least 15 minutes a day just walking is becoming a favorite part of my day. Being able to take time to explore the nature around me without worrying about my classes, practices, or tests I have coming up is helping me feel less stressed. It has been very nice these past few days too, so my walks have been very enjoyable. I am excited to keep participating in this challenge, and I hope that my mental health and sleep keep improving by simply taking this time to myself to enjoy what the world has to offer.

How do you experience your neighborhood or city differently when walking instead of driving?

I found that walking instead of driving made me way more aware of what was around me. I walked through the cemetery instead of flying past it in my car. This allowed me to notice each individual gravestone and the plethora of designs in this cemetery. I also found myself looking at birthdates and death dates. I came across one child who died at only two years old. I feel extremely sad for this family, and I never would've had this realization if I drove by. I also noticed all of the fresh flowers at the gravestones from loved ones still grieving their loss. It was a wake up call that death could come at any moment so enjoying my life and taking in everything around me everyday is so important.
